Emmas Baptism

On Friday Joe and I got up early and drove to North Peoria, outside of Phoenix, for our grand daughters baptism.
We saw some pretty sights along the way. My favorite place was the Vermillion Cliffs, in Arizona.

At Lees Ferry I bought a necklace and a ring:

Emma's baptism was on Saturday.

We're travel weary and rumpled but we are glad that we could make it:

On Tuesday we returned through the Navajo Reservation (same way we went down).
We like our Lees Ferry stop. We always walk across the bridge:

I drove the whole way back! Hooray for me!

We stopped at Jacobs Lake Inn for lunch.
Just for the record, my own name for the area is Jacob's puddle.

Sarah's Birthday (24!)

It's a little shocking that my youngest child is 24! Oh my goodness!

Birthday highlights:
 A mother/daughter outing to the local aquarium.
In the evening her brother joined us at an Italian Restaurant.

After dinner Sarah's brother took her to the mall and bought her some clothes!
What a nice guy.

At home we had big frosted cupcakes:

Dog Lake Trail In Winter

In  Big Cottonwood Canyon we parked below Donut Falls. We crossed to the North side of the road and got on the Dog Lake trail.  We used our snow shoes.

It snowed lightly on us much of the time, but the exercise kept us warm.

The picture that I took of Joe was a disaster (sorry).
It was a good walk. We are always in a battle against the 'couch potato' bodies.

An Active Saturday

Today was a full day. First, we got up early to go snow shoeing.
Sarah had to go to work. We'll take her next time.

Later Aaron and Stef tried the sledding hill.

Joe and I were supposed to be to a B.Y.U. Dance program at 2:00.
We were 10 minutes late, but made it to our assigned seating.

Before going home we ate dinner at Cubby's. Its a hamburger place.

The Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibit

This evening I went with Joe and two of my kids to the Da Vinci exhibit.
Our tickets included dinner.


Some things I learned about Leonardo Da Vinci:
He was a painter, sculptor, architect, scientist, inventor, engineer, anatomist, and writer, among many other things.  He lived in the 1400's.

Day Fork Trail In The Snow

We got out of the smog by going up Big Cottonwood  Canyon today.
It was sunny and clear up there!
We found a place to park in Spruces little parking lot.

Joe gave me this crazy hat for Christmas.

We were so happy to see blue sky!
Believe it or not, I have a slight sunburn.

Ice Skating, Bowling and extreme cold!

A week after Christmas our daughter and her family came to visit.
What is the worst thing you can do to Arizona people?
Have them visit Utah during a record breaking cold spell!
I checked the weather and it's 8 degrees out!


Sue wanted to see the 'Zoo Lights'.
We had lots of company. The parking lot was full.
The downside was 18 degree weather! It was painful!

One evening we went bowling. Groupon deals are great.  Pizza and soda was included:

On Thursday we went to Gallivan Center to Ice Skate.

It was good to see everyone. Next time we'll try to order more normal winter weather.
