Labor Day

It's Labor Day.
Joe and I got out of the house.
We went to the Heber area and tried some fishing.


Our first spot was on the inlet to Deer Creek Reservoir.
The water was a bit swift for bait fishing.

Our next  spot was on the Provo River:

The water was a bit slower here and seemed like a good place:

Lets just say it was good practice.
We have concluded that some places require fly fishing equipment.
Maybe next summer we will upgrade our gear.

Mount Nebo Loop With The Folks

I went with Mom and Dad on a drive.
I was excited to get out of the house!


The Mount Nebo loop is very scenic.

We found a picnic table in the Black Hawk campground area.

Utah lake:

It was a pretty drive.

We stopped at the Fairview Museum too.
Dad said that we drove about 200 miles.
Fun day!

Pioneer Day 2014

My daughter, Susan, is here with her kids. She will do a blog on all the activities done on this trip.
I'm just going to show our Pioneer Day picnic at Storm Mountain this evening.

Sisters.
Sarah (red shirt) had her second eye surgery yesterday.
(Two operations in two days):

Sues husband will join us tonight from Arizona. He's flying in.
The two married couples are going on a short backpacking trip and camp out.

Sarahs Eye Surgery

Even though my oldest daughter,Susan, is here with my four grand kids, and we have done many fun things so far, this post is about Sarahs eye surgery.

We waited 3 months for our appointment with the Doctor.
We waited another 3 months for the eye surgery.
Sarah had developed a turned in eye that just had to be fixed.

On Tuesday she had surgery.
It went well:

The very next day (today actually) she had an adjustment to the surgery.
She had to be awake for this procedure (just local anesthesia this time)
The world has dimension now (Images have looked flat).
The results so far seem really good.

Bush-wacking through the forest!

I was right, he was wrong! Sigh.
Long story short: I was swayed and followed my husband into the forest for 8 hours of bush-wacking!
That's right, you heard me.
Any other day that would be high adventure and totally fine. I'm into it.
That's just not what I got up at 4:30 in the morning to do! (an accomplishment in itself).
So, Hayden Peak will have to wait.



Just for the record, this grandma climbed over lots of dead-falls and boulders:

We passed through several meadows:

Yes. I climbed up and over these boulders:
Why? Because that's what we do:

If we had done this day right, we would be looking down on Mount Baldy out there.
Obviously we aren't:

We walked along the tree line for awhile, just to look around:

On the way back, we couldn't find the exact spot that we had come up and we were what I call 'Ledged Up'.
That means the only way down is to fly or fall, so we looked for a new route.
In that process I found this little pond:

Using G.P.S. and my general idea about following the water, we passed through several tiers of meadows.
There were dozens of Moose Tracks at each one, but no critters:

We reached the bottom meadow, which runs by the trail. We could hear people for the first time all day:

We drove to Butterfly Lake to eat our sandwiches. We watched people canoe and Kayak:

So, I forgive Joe. I always do. Haha.

Rodeo and stuff

Yesterday mom and dad stopped by and wished me a Happy Birthday.
They gave me this  Pow Wow shawl.

This evening we went to a Rodeo in Oakley.
Joe and I found a place to picnic just down the road from the Rodeo grounds.
Aaron and Stefani drove up from Provo and joined us here.

Let the fun begin:

One bronc rider got kicked in the head and ended up with 5 stitches. It's a rough sport.


There were fireworks at the end:

It really feels like summer now.

Early B-Day Picnic At Brighton

Today is Saturday and we went on an evening a picnic.
This is what I wanted for my birthday which will be on Wednesday.

After dinner we walked around the lake:
