I'm just showing off my tomatoes. I have three plants. This is about 1/2 of what one plant will produce. So, this represents about a sixth of what we've grown this summer.
I also just happened to pull my multi-grain bread and apple pie from the oven, so I added that to my shot.

28th Wedding Anniversary
Today is our 28th wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went on a picnic in the beautiful canyon above our home. I don't think there's a restaurant anywhere that can top what nature gave us for free today.
We picked out this spot about a month ago and hoped that the weather would cooperate with us and it did. Today the sky is blue, the temperatures are mild and it's not even windy. We couldn't have asked for more.
We spread our table with a white table cloth, white cloth napkins and heavy plates. We decorated with wild flowers (the snows will get them soon anyway) and by luck there were tons of pine bows laying everywhere. The ski resort did some cutting. We didn't do any damage to nature.
For our picnic we had turkey sandwiches on homemade bread, potato chips, strawberries, diet coke and homemade chocolate covered apples (see previous post).
Joe:
After our picnic we took our dishes and things back to the car and locked it up. Then we went a couple of minutes up the road, put on our camel backs (water) and went tromping in the woods.
The leaves are starting to change colors. Up higher they were very orange and red. Down where we were they were mostly yellow, but still pretty.
We brought some nature home with us. We found the orange leaves just off the side of the road, on our way home. We also brought the pine boughs home that we had used on our picnic table.
Happy Anniversary to us! We have three great children who are officially adults now, and three neat little grand children. We've survived two rough economic downturns and we're still plugging along.

A Special Day
Today we got together with some members of our family to do Temple work for my younger sister, Laurie.
My husband and I rode up to Ogden from Salt Lake City with my parents. It's a very nice day today. I love it when the sky is blue and the weather is warm.
Afterwards we drove to the Maddox restaurant in Brigham. This is a popular place to eat. They have great food there.
As usual I snapped a lot of random pictures; People put up with me.
Here we are waiting for a table; from left to right; Debera (sister), Mom, Robin (sister), Stacey (sister in law) and Bradly (brother). Robin flew in from Los Angeles to participate. It was so good to see her, however brief.
Stephanie (Debs daughter) joined us at the restaurant. Dad, Dave (Deberas husband)
Debera has a grand daughter in her lap;
The good part of waiting for a table, is that we got to visit more;
Looking over the menu; by now we were sure ready to eat!
Dad paid for everybody!! Thanks Dad!!
I had Shrimp cocktail (they were very generous portions). I also had Salmon, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and hot rolls. The restaurant makes their own rolls from scratch.
Some of us had to say goodbye to Robin after the meal. At least we got to see her for awhile.
On the way home with mom and dad, we stopped at one of the many fruit stands along that road. It's one of the few areas left in Utah where the orchards haven't been torn out for houses. Dad bought corn and peaches. Later he gave half the corn and several peaches to us! Wow, he's so nice!! They also gave me one more bucket of food storage.
Mom gave everyone that came today a nice book that was written by her friend (Rose Johnson-Tsosie) called Finding Helen, A Navajo Miracle. Rose wrote a personal note and signed each book.
I appreciate my family and it was a good day.

Labor day 2009
Joe and I made the most of Labor day. We hiked above the Solitude resort area. We went 12 miles in five hours. There was a large map posted near the bottom of the trail that we used to count up our mileage. We also went to just below the 10,000 foot elevation before turning around.
In this picture are two deer that we watched for awhile. This was probably near the 9000 foot elevation. Click on the picture to enlarge it:
This is coming back down:
Along the trail:
After our hike, we drove a short distance to get to Silver Lake. Joe caught two fish.
I had my bobber yanked under three different times, but I didn't catch anything.
We stayed until it was getting dark and cold. On our way to the car we got to watch a big moose out in the marsh eating grass. It was too dark to get a picture. A little earlier we could see him romping and running. It was like seeing a colt playing. I didn't know moose did that.
When we got home I cleaned Joe's fish for him. He thinks it's way gross.
That's really not everything we did today. This morning we drove to check out a brand new park in our area to see if it might be a nice place to take the grand kids some time. After that we came home, ate lunch and took off on our labor day adventure.
