Into the trees:

We discovered a great place for sledding. It's just hidden enough that it's probably not well known. If we bring kids and grand-kids here, we would very likely have it to ourselves. Small children might prefer to start from part way up:
This open air shelter was well hidden in the trees and full of picnic tables. It also has a huge rock fireplace. It can be rented (or you can just climb through the giant open windows):

We have camped at the Spruces many times. I recall one time that Aaron and I joined with Jay and Ben Kessler for an overnighter and other times with with Ward for scouts and ward picnics. They have some great group areas with volleyball, softball and even horseshoe pits.
In the winter it is transformed into a totally different scene. The "spruces" and several feet of snow make for a winter wonderland. I hope we come back here again soon!
What a fun find! That sledding hill looks great! and it would be really cool to actually sled in the mountains instead of the park. I say we give it a try! Glad you had a fun afternoon. :)
You guys are awesome!! Always finding or doing something fun! Keep it up! :)
