We parked at Gardner Village and got on the Jordan River Parkway from there.
Joe took this picture with his Droid. Click on the picture to make it bigger:
Right when we were turning around to head back, Joes bike chain broke. At that point, his bike became more of a scooter than a bike. By walking his bike, scooting it along with his foot and coasting down hills he got back to the car. Sometimes I walked along with him and sometimes I waited for him to catch up to me. We finished our bike ride in the dark.
In the future we should probably carry a spare chain and maybe a little tire repair kit.

Many things went well tonight, including the Thule Bike rack, finding a good trail head and a trail that is very smooth & flat on a nice evening!
Aaron's bike is a nice bicycle, but it is poor scooter, when we turned around we had traveled 4 miles, it was then that the chain broke and we limped back for 4 miles, coasting some , walking a lot and "scooting" the bike with one foot while balancing on the center rail or the seat. A rough way to travel!
Despite the broken chain, it seems like it was a really fun evening outing! I like the bike rack - it looks to be perfect for toting your big bikes around. awesome!
