Lake Brimhall And More

We thought this was going to be a simple and easy hike. Oh Boy, it was anything but that.
We started at Bloods lake, below the North side of Clayton Peak.

We went beyond there to Brimhall Lake. There's some kind of scout camp next to it, with loads of 'No Trespassing' signs. We  had to bushwhack along a ridge to get a glimpse of the lake.

Then we went over a ridge and came across a real trail that went up into the mountains.
We had no idea where it led, but we followed it anyway.

 Meadows:

A couple of mosquito factories:

Fortunately it gave us a view of Silver Lake #2 and Silver Lake Islet. These are not to be confused with the Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

A rare bit of shade on this outing and an equally rare chance to just sit:

Wildflowers next to a stream:

Up and up:

This was the end of the line for us:

We backtracked a little and went over a saddle. We werent totally sure where it lead but we went with it. We may be crazy. We say it often.
It was that or go all the way back the way we came:

It got a little rigorous.

We had to climb the backside of Clayton Peak to get back to the car;

Big Cottonwood Canyon from the South side of Clayton:

Ugh. We really are near the top of Good Ol' Clayton again (some sarcasm):
Really, we were on top of this thing just Saturday before last. I didn't expect to see it again:

We're getting pretty tough (although not much slimmer). By The Way: Joe has a new nick name; 'Wrong Way Charlie'! I guess I still like him.

Stefanie and I joined two different dance circles when the spectators were called down.

Before leaving Heber we went to the Dairy Keen for Ice Cream.

Tomorrow is Fathers Day.

Clayton Peak and Bloods Lake

After a morning of helping at Family Day and running errands,  we drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon and got on the Guardsman Pass Road.
From there we got on a  steep trail to Clayton Peak.

This is about half way up the trail.
 Below us is Bloods Lake:

Joe:

We walked along this snow patch:

To the South we could see back into Big Cottonwood Canyon and so many of its high  lakes.

Windy!:

 Bloods Lake behind me:

In the distance is Silver Lake where we go fishing.

When we got off the Clayton Peak we followed a little trail to Blood Lake.
It wasn't far.

Next Saturday we are going to a Pow-Wow up at Soldiers Hollow.

End Of A Visit

Joe went out to the airport on Sunday morning and picked up Sue and Ben. They had been back East for work, plus vacation. The kids had been staying with us.
They left us this morning (Tuesday).

Sunday dinner in the backyard.

On Monday afternoon we went to Silver Lake.

The path goes all around the lake:

Rebecca.
We call her Becca:

Becca found a rock to climb:

Becca:
She has gotten very good at casting and reeling.
She just wished she could have a hook on her line.

After the kids had naps back at the house, we went to Storm mountain for dinner.

Aaron and Sarah both drove in their own cars to join us. They had been working.

This is the river in front of our picnic site.

So, we only had a couple of incidents while the kids were here. Claire had flu or something for a while and Jacob tripped and fell off the boardwalk into a shallow part of  Silver Lake. It was a thorough dunking. I fished him out by grabbing his collar.
