There's something about a long cold winter that can get a person dreaming of gardens. It's the need for life and color.
My hubby built these great garden boxes for me, just in time for planting season. Which in this case is April.
I was going to wait until my plants were full grown before taking a picture, but my dad suggested that it might be worth getting a picture before that. I guess it could be interesting to show the garden as it progresses.
We've talked about using a drip system on the veggie garden to save water. My ultimate dream would be a mini green house as a place to sprout seedling. I could get an early start on each growing season.
Squeezed into these two boxes are; Kale, Spinach, Carrots, Turnips, Beets,
Brussel Sprouts, Arugala, and Broccoli.
The herbs are; Mint, basil, parsley and dill.
In the little pots are; Nasturtiums (an edible flower) and Alyssum, also called Basket Of Gold, to attract bees. Elsewhere in the yard are strawberry plants.
This summer I'll also grow tomatoes and squash.
We have a huge amount of lawn that gives us a lot of future possibilities. This urban, backyard farming is very fun.

Such neatly arranged rows, so orderly. Well played, master gardener!
I'm so impressed with you mom... and also of dad and his handy skills in making such nice garden boxes. I hope you get some good eatin' from this! :)
